I have a chick who has a mysterious wound and is not using that leg well. Still eating and drinking but getting pushed around a lot.
I have absolutely no idea what could have happened to this little guy. There was never any blood and just suddenly wasn’t walking well and keeping leg out to the side.
Should I put anything on the spot? Should I separate? I was going to but this chick is tiny and really seems to like company. Nobody is picking on him specifically he just doesn’t balance well when pushed on.
(Also dealing with some pasty butt so please ignore the not so fluffy butt)

He might have slight splayed legs causing his imbalance. I'm not really seeing any spot. There would be no need to separate him as long as others aren't picking on him.

If you stand him on a flat, non-slippery surface, do his legs spread further than the other chicks do? They should be straight underneath of him.

If you see they are not straight below him, then if you act quickly before he gets much older, it can be fixed in a couple of days.

You'll need to bind his legs together. I've used vet wrap cut in half lengthwise but others have used bandaids. You just wrap it around one leg, then over to the other and wrap the other leg so both legs look straight below him. He'll fumble and fall around for awhile but eventually get used to it. You'll just have to make sure he gets to food/water. You can take it off for an hour after several hours of him wearing it, then put it back on again. At most, ones we've fixed took three days, but the other couple only took two days.

Here's an article a member wrote that shows how too.

Thank you for all the info. The thought had crossed my mind that splayed legs might be a factor because he does hold it out some but there is also this wound. He hasn’t gotten around as well as the others since day one. I’ll zoom in on the spot for you. It is above the foot. It’s never been bloody or anything but is like a scab. It’s strange looking. He limps kinda like a peg leg type walk now.
