Hello everyone,

I'm hoping someone can help me this morning. One of my 2 Cream Legbars became lethargic last weekend and almost seemed depressed. While free-ranging, she would sleep in random spots when all the others were pecking about. Her vent looks healthy but I noticed her poop was runny and there was some bright yellow in it. Thinking coccidia, we started them all on POUL-VITE and GERME-ZONE on Tuesday (Monday was a holiday so the shops were closed). She didn't improve over the last few days but also not noticibly worse, until today.

Last night I checked her crop and it was very squishy compared to the other 3 girls but not overly large. Her mouth didn't smell sour. This morning her crop was small, hard, not empty. I've brought her inside this morning to give her some extra care, including some anti-fungal (thinking maybe sour crop) but now she's barely able to walk. She tries to walk but she wobbles and uses her wings to regain her balance. It's so heartbreaking to see. She pecked a bit at some crumble and drank a huge amount of water. It's almost like the water threw her equalibrium off.

Is there anything I'm missing here? She really seems to be going downhill fast.

Edit to add: She's now started panting

TiA

I hope you can help her.

All I know about wobbly and panting was being prescribed strong meds for my rooster, who later had to be euthanized.

I hope your hen has a better outcome.

Was she vaccinated for Mareks disease? Could she have been injured by a rooster? Has she been laughing eggs recently? Is the poop still bright yellow? Do you have pictures? Does she have any toes that are curling under or is she sitting or walking on her hocks? Can you get some human vitamin E softgels 400 IU and human vitamin B complex tablets and give 1/2 tablet daily?

What anti-fungal treatment did you use?
Can you upload more pictures of her in her current condition? Eyes, comb, walking/sitting?
Thank you for your reply! I used Candida Stop mixed in with wet cat food (which she usually loves) but she wouldn't touch it so I didn't manage to get any anti-fungal into her. She was laying on her belly all morning but she's standing now and seems less dizzy but she can't really hold up her wings. I just gave her about half a scrambled egg which she ate and she's drinking water again as well. I also gave her a few drops of MCT coconut oil in case her crop is impacted. She seems to be waking up to take a couple of sips of water and then closes her eyes again. I noticed her poops have been mostly water with a bit of dark green solids, except just now she pooped some yellowish stuff. (Sorry for the yucky photo of that!) Based on the poop, could this possibly be egg yolk peri? She laid one egg (we think) about two weeks ago but has laid nothing since. In the case that it wasn't her then she's 6 months old and hasn't laid yet. When I come into her room she still beeps once or twice to say hello. :)

Thank you for your reply! No, she wasn't vaccinated. We don't have any roosters and I don't see any injuries that are obvious at least. She laid her first egg about two weeks ago (at least we think it was her) but has laid nothing since. She's 6 months old. I can definitely give her some human vitamin E and B complex! Her poops have been very watery with some dark solids but now she just pooped this pale yellow stuff. She seems to be less dizzy than she was this morning but still so fatigued she can't hold her wings up or keep her eyes open for very long. She's drinking water and I gave her a half a scrambled egg, which she happily ate.
