These are my very first chickens... they were hatched from eggs that my best friends MIL brought to eat! 😂
She found out they had a rooster so decided to try to incubate them and succeeded. There were 10 in all, I picked out these three to keep. I don't know what breeds she has, I could probably eventually find out, but I was hoping that you guys could maybe give me an educated guess as to parentage just for my curiosity. We're in Saskatchewan Canada and I'm going to assume that her breeds are probably common ones but it is just an assumption.
There are 3 birds, the white one, named Opal, was a yellow chick with a black spot on its head, the red one we named Red and it was a striped chick, and the black one we named Falcon and it was also a striped chick like the red one (and the last to hatch which is why she's smaller). In my very inexperienced opinion I believe they're all hens but I'm super curious as to what breeds they might be mixed up from. Any thoughts?
Oh! They are almost 6 weeks old in these pictures, taken today.

They are probably mixes if the person you got the eggs from wasn't breeding to sell hatching eggs or pure breed chicks. They are super adorable and I love the names, so fitting.

At 6 weeks, they have another moult or 2 to finish getting adult colors. There are a lot of options re: what sorts got mixed together to make this? Egg color when they lay can help, but knowing what breeds of roo and what breeds of hen (yes roo of breed A crossed with a hen of breed B can have a different look than a roo of breed B crossed with a hen of breed A) will help narrow the guessing field.

You've got some beauties
