Hey everyone, decided to share some pics of my chicks I bought at TSC 6 weeks and 2 days ago! I am not sure how old the chicks were when I got them, but they looked days old if that, so I start from when I first got them.

Anyway, I have 3 barred rock and 3 red comet chicks from TSC. One of the barred rocks is a rooster, and I am very excited to see how he turns out. Never had a roster before! This will be my 3rd year having chickens. My grown girls consist of 3 buff orpingtons, 1 white leghorn, 1 buff brahma, 1 light brahma.

TSC had labelled the barred rock chicks as black sex links, so to me they looked like they were all roosters as every chick had a dot on it's head! Thankfully when they feathered out, I realized they were a different breed. Whoo, didn't want 3 roosters now.

Here they are as chicks:

Note sure here, maybe about a month old:

And just today at 6 weeks 2 days old:

(That is my chocolate lab Betty. Had her around the chickens since she was a pup, and she gets along with them fine. Ignores them for the most part lol, but loves to eat their poo. Ugh!)

They have turned into beautiful birds.

Love the picture with your pup. Thanks for sharing and enjoy them!

Thank you guys :) This is my 4th time raising chicks, and I am just so in love with this group.

They were all very active and friendly from day one. When I open their cage, they hop out and some even like to perch on my shoulder or leg. I am wondering if how I got them made a difference, as my chicks in the past have been shipped through the mail. That must weaken them a lot somehow, as these TSC chicks were insanely active when I got them!

This time around I also had their 75 gal fishtank/brooder at waist level, so I wonder if being able to look at them side-on made them trust me more. I know swooping in from above makes them (and even the grown chickens) nervous to some extent.

Anyway, I am thinking of starting a "Name My Rooster" thread, as I can't seem to come up with any good names for the little guy. Hmmm...

EDIT: And yes, Betty is my one-dog clean-up crew for our back porch lol. The chickens just LOVE to hang out there and make a big mess. But Betty will go through and clean up anything she finds to be delicious. Eww, sorry guys, had to share!
