I love chickens and I decided to make a chicken shaped cake for desert this past Easter. My family is still talking about how awesome it looked (and tasted). I thought it might be fun to see if other chicken lovers wanted to share some of their creative projects.

My cake was modeled after my favorite Buff Orpington hen, Amanda.

She seems a little suspicious of this other "chicken."

Thanks! I used fondant to shape the head and tail. I attached them using a couple of wooden skewers. It worked out really well and was fairly easy to do. Afterwards I just used some white frosting that I had colored orange to cover the cake. I had a lot of fun making this cake!!! :D

I love your cake.. You did a great job.. I make and design. cakes as a hobby I have never thought of doing a chicken cake but now you have inspired me. :)

You did such a great job, I recognised it as a Buff Orpington *before* I read the post. Bravo!

Thanks everyone! I think I've been watching too many baking shows.

You should send a picture to Buddy on "The Cake Boss". That is really cool, just need a couple of eggs poking out the front.

Boy if my Rooster ever saw that I could not be responsible for his behavior. While yours may be skeptical, Jerry Lee would see it as an opportunity. James Bond he is not.
