This is a warning to silky lovers. I hatched 25 silky chicks and all was good. Until I put 6 guinea keets in with them. They were the same size and at first nothing was wrong. Overnight the guineas had accedently killed 22 chicks. They squished them not on purpose though 3 where left the 3 still live today 2 hens 1 roo. PLEASE DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID! :(:fl

I am so sorry for you loss. Thank you for sharing the warning, I wouldn't have thought if that with them being the same size.
This happened last year. The only one that did not die from the keets was Bubbles a chick with splayed legs I tried to help it but, It did't work. He died shortly after:(

I'm SO sorry. This is really sad. 'We learn from our mistakes' is clearly not the right thing for me to say in this situation. I'm just unhappy for you, my condolences.

I also think I know how it happened.

Sorry to hear about your chicks op. It must have been very heartbreaking💔

Guinea keets really shouldn’t be brooded with any other poultry. Not just for the reason you sadly found out, but because during the mating season guineas are very rough on their flock mates. Chasing, pulling feathers, ect. Other poultry don’t understand and can die from the stress.
I really am very sorry you lost so many chicks. One loss is hard enough, but 22😓

I put 6 keets in with my silkies last year but there was about 1-2 weeks difference in age, but then too I had 4 EE chicks in along with them. My Guenies have finally gone broody & trying to find the nest is like looking for a needle in a hay stack

I have a silkie in with 6 week old Malays chicks that are huge, & no squishing has happen. The silkie is now 1 week old.
