Hello!

A young sweet little polish bantam was dropped off at our place. I’ve raised many chickens but she’s got a few things going on that I’ve never seen before.

1) sleeps with head hanging down
2) has brown scaly stuff between toes
3) beak doesn’t close fully - I don’t believe this is really a problem, just something I noticed.
(Please see pics)

She sleeps a lot! When she is awake, she prefers to perch and doesn’t do a lot of wandering. When she walks it is upright and normal. She will eat and drink, but you almost have to force her off of her perch to do it. When she eats and drinks she does pretty good... although it’s a bit funny to watch with her beak. She poops normally. I’ve seen Bumblefoot and it didn’t look like the stuff she has on her feet. Scaly mites?

We currently have her inside to stay warm.

Anything to worry about or is she just a silly chicken with a sleepy disposition and dry feet?

Sounds like scaly mites and scissor beak. Also sounds like she might not wander around much because she can't see well because of her top knot and she looks to be in a small cage, so if she wanders she probably rams right into the cage walls.

Thank you for the info. It’s actually a very large cage - I took really close pics for details. I didn’t want her in the coop with my ladies in case she has something contagious on her feet... and because they’d bully her. It’s still really cold where I’m at so just want to keep her warm at night. She spent her day in the greenhouse.

Yeah I would definitely quarantine her for sure. And also because as a Polish she's susceptible to bullying anyway, even without being a sick newcomer.
