so I have a welsummer (three years of age lays eggs and has laid one like yesterday) that got in the way of me carrying the chicken waterer (5 gallons not sure of the brand though) and I accidentally stepped on her foot. she went crazy around the coop freaking out and I tried to check on her to make sure I didn't break a bone (happened to me 2 years prior with another hen) and her foot seemed fine. but today I went to check and her foot was swelled up like crazy. it felt warm and squishy and her middle toe was also swelled up? is this a broken bone or a bad bruise????

Oh, boy. That's sad. Hopefully you will get some responses from people who know better than I how to manage this.

How is your hen now?

Can you post photos of the hen and her injury?
