Hi all, I have indian runner ducks. Its day 29. Some pipped yesterday and 2 began zipping 12 hours ago but not made much progress. One of the ducklings is constantly chirping away, wobbling and keeps pushing at the shell but nothing is coming away. The other starts and stops. Should they be at a point of hatching by now? Is the membrane too dry? I cant ready humidity but lots of condensation and added a wet flannel. Do they need help or do I just wait and see?

If it's only been 12hrs, I would wait since they might still be absorbing the yolk and needing a bit of rest. I have never hatched Indian Runner ducks, though! They are sure cute! Maybe others with more knowledge can help--I hope they make it!

Its poking its beak through but the membrane is a tanned colour which means its dry? What do I have to do to keep them alive?

Had to assist with all of them so far. Appears the membrane has dried or their heads are between their legs. There so big to come out of a tiny egg. 5 hatched but 1 looks not so good and very small. I have 1 egg left which pipped yesterday, is moving in the egg. Im on day 30 do I just wait and see? Its a heavy egg like the first which was stuck as soo big.

I dont know that much about ducks, but from what i do, it seems fine, give it atleast a full 24 hours before knowing for sure, i think its fine so just be patient for now
