I have turkeys that are about a week old. They are drawing blood on each other. The main spot they are pecking each other is their butts. Big time bloody. It's not just one ore two. We are talking 2 or 3 a day. I put them under 125watt red bulb cause I heard that was to help. PLEASE HELP

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! I'm afraid I'm not a turkey person but would try to seperate any really bloody ones. Once they see blood there is no stopping them. It can turn into a blood bath pretty quick. Do you have blue kote or something similar to cover the bloody areas? Have they got enough room? Sometimes not enough space can cause this behaviour. Also if they are little warm this can make them aggressive. Have you checked for pasty butt? I've had a couple of chicks with poop stuck and once another chick spots it they are like Hawks pecking. As I said I'm not a turkey person and just going off chick experience so please do post in the turkey section for more help. Here is the link ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/20/turkeys

Wishing you the very best of luck with them and I hope you can get this under control :frow

Welcome to BYC!

I've never had turkeys but @Yorkshire coop has given you some things to consider plus a good link to post on. Hope you find the answer so they'll quit bothering each other.

Good luck with your birds, nice to have you here!

You might try a red bulb in your heat lamp - then they won't notice blood very well. Do they have enough room in the brooder? Crowding can cause tempers to flare.
