I have a six month old Speckled Sussex that is aggressive with ME. We've raised her since she was a few days old. She's one of six hens and is at the bottom of the pecking order. When I walk by her she makes these growling, angry type sounds and then pecks the back of the ankles or feet. I tell her "no" very firmly and grab and hold her down. If I try to push her away, she gets even more mad. I've also grabbed her beak and held it shut while telling her no at the same time. None of that really seems to help with her. She also does it when I call them back into their run using mealworms. When I'm walking and shaking the container of mealworms, she will peck at my ankles/feet. Super frustrating. It's almost like she thinks I'm a chicken and am below her in the pecking order. She doesn't act this way with the other chickens. Funny thing is when I tell her no and hold her down, two of my older chickens will come by and peck her really hard or even jump on her back as if to say "knock that crap off and leave her alone".
I've been thinking of spraying her with a water bottle when she does that. No idea if that would help.
Any suggestions?
