Air soft gun?

So I'm working on the coop using the ideas that people and my dad have given me. I am wondering though, how effective would an air soft gun(a pretty strong one) be against raccoons or hawks or ect? My brother said it's about the same power as the paint ball gun he uses and said I could have it if it helps.


Might be a good idea considering I can't use my actual shotgun in a gated community?

Airsoft gun? You mean the replica of actual gun type of air gun right?

I think any critter getting an 'out of nowhere' sting to the butt will scurry away and think twice about coming back. Though the draw of chicken dinner is strong these acts of God like stinging sensations are a good deterrent. More effective is to lock your birds up in the coop at night. Live traps to rid yourself of the pest but if they can't get to the bird then there's no worry.

Yes they will work for most critters as a deterant, but once they make the connection they will come back when you are not there to sting them.

You can trap them as well (coons etc.), but remember ALL HAWKS are protected in most areas of the country and shooting them with anything can get ya a hefty fine if caught.

If you can get a 22 it would work better. Depending on how many feet per second it shoots you can probably kill something with it if you shot it in the right spot. But yes it should work fine if they dont make the connection between you and the stinging sensation that they get.

It would be illegal to shoot at a hawk, even though you wouldn't stand any chance of hitting it.

you would be better off with a .22 LR Rifle

Idk if it is considered a toy. It's an airgun, the kind we used in ROTC for fireing practice and shooting competitions.

Is it worth $5000 to "annoy" a hawk?

Get a good pellet rifle for the coons and leave the hawks alone.
Or even better, put up some electric fencing and it works 24/7​
