I just recently had 2 baby pigeons hatch out a week ago. One baby came out looking like a normal baby pigeon with yellow fuzz and black eyes when they opened a few days later. The sibling hatched out with a lot less fuzz and the fuzz what extemly light in color. When it opened its eyes i noticed they were pink. Im assuming i have an albino. Both parents are very dark in color with some white flecks. I understand white pigeons are a dime a dozen but how common are albinos?

Very rare. It does seem like you have one though. Pics?

@sourland might be able to help.

The father is the one in the nest box and the mom is on the perch. And if you can see in the pic the baby with no fuzz has pink eyes and the one with fuzz had black eyes.

That is quite a special event, to get an albino baby in your loft. Since the albinism gene is recessive, both the mom and dqd carry it.

I hope you will post updates often as these babies grow and feather out. I read that while albinos produce no melanin, they can show iridescence in the neck feathers which comes from the structure not the pigment. Very cool!:)

The first picture looks so strange seeing them side by side. I'll be really interested to see how it grows. Please give plenty of updates!
