I have a 6 week old Ameraucana chick and I am unsure if it is a rooster or a hen. Please help! Haha I named "it" Sydney but should I possibly change it to Sid? or Syd?

Yep, it looks like you've got an easter egger cockerel there. Ameraucanas must come in the colors described in the following link in order to be correctly called "ameraucanas" (I know it sounds kinda nit-picky, but these are the only colors accepted by the breed association).

That said, while I think your bird's probably a cockerel, I think there still a little bit of a chance that it's a pullet. I've been trolling this forum for awhile, and for every 50 pink-combed 6-week-old males, there's one pink-combed 6-week-old female. Yours doesn't have a roo's telltale red patches yet, so there still a chance - a tiny chance - that it could be a pullet. Keep us updated!

It isnt really picky. Standards have to be set so that there can be an actually breed and it can be improved. And there is more than just feather color that seperates ameraucanas and easter eggers.
