My chicks have been outside since it's been about 55 degrees fahrenheit overnight where I am for the last few weeks. But tonight it's going to dip to 35 degrees F. They are just about 8 weeks old, are they ok to lock up in their coop tonight or should I bring them inside just for the night?

I only have a brooder plate i didn't end up using a heat lamp. This is my first time raising them
Can you set the brooder plate in a corner of the coop so they have heat if they want it? (Obviously I'm aiming to keep them in the coop, less stress on them)

I've had chicks at 5-1/2 weeks of age go through nights in the mid 20's F with no supplemental heat. Yours are 8 weeks old and have been outside for weeks so they are well acclimated to cooler temperatures.

Based on my experience, not something I've read or my imagination but actual experience, I would not hesitate to leave them outside with no supplemental heat. If you want to bring them in because it will make you feel better you can do that. It will not hurt anything.
