My Ameracauna just laid her first egg at 17 weeks. While that is exciting, I’m concerned it is too early, and she may be prone to reproductive issues, including egg binding. This little girl and her sister came from a trusted and reputable breeder. He did mention that he puts a red light (not a heat lamp) in his coops. We do not light or heat our coop at night, however, as we respect the natural cycle of our hens. Should I be overly concerned? I realize there’s nothing I can do. Thank you in advance.
