I'm not sure where to post this. Anyway, our baby Ameraucana Harley is our first Ameraucana. I'm finding it difficult to determine what she will look like when she is grown up. Any guesses? Online photos of other Ameraucanas to give me a better idea if appreciated!

Ameraucanas will come only in standard colors--here are some photos of Ameraucana chicks. http://www.ameraucana.org/scrapbook.html

However, you have an Easter Egger, not an Ameraucana, based on that photo. Because EEs aren't bred to a color standard, there is really no possible way to tell you what that baby will look like when it's all grown up. I would guess that, based on the fact that Harley is such a standard baby chick color for an EE, that she'll be some variation of the partridge feather pattern and look something like one of these--but nothing is certain:

(The one in the middle with the black feathers, not the red one)

Still a good looking chicken. I noticed that she looked like the silver Ameraucana. I do know that many hatcheries confuse the EE and Ameraucanas. Her wing feathers look close to the wing feathers on my baby partridge cochin.

OH MY GOSHHHH. I have an Easter Egger that literally looked exactly like that when she was a chick! I cant tell which one looks most like yours, but they are very similar. Yours might turn out to be more black and white because of its dark head

The light brown chick in the middle turned out to look like hen #1
The darkish brown one on the left turned out to look like hen #2
The chocolate one on the right turned out to look somewhat like hen #1 too...which I thought was kinda cool since they didn't look similar as chicks.

It looks like she may be between hen 1 and 2! She is SUCH a sweetie!

Unless a "hatchery" states that an "Ameraucana" is a specific color, they are misleading their customers as to the bird's breed. If the description says, "bred to lay colorful eggs, expect blue, green or pink", then you have an Easter Egger.

If you purchased your baby from Meyer Hatchery, then you had to choose either blue or wheaten, but your baby is neither of them.

She may grow up to resemble a particular Ameraucana color, such as silver, but will have telltale signs that she is an Easter Egger, probably green legs and off-color eggs.

That said, I wish we could tell you what she will look like, but, that is part of the fun of Easter Eggers, you can check on them every day and they could look different one day to the next. No telling what she'll look like when she is grown.

Mine looked very similar as a chick too. She turned into a gorgeaous red partridge. Wish i had a better pic, but she is a rather coy girl

you are not going to be able to tell what she will look like until she is an adult. She is an easter egger. For example from some chicks I had a few years ago. I had 2 chicks that looked ientical to yours. As adults they looked completley different. You will never know until they feather out into their adults feather, when they get their juvinelle feathers they still might change. Just have to wait until they are adults.
