Americanas - 7 Weeks Old

Silverbirds also mentioned messy patterning in males and mine looks more neatly even. So maybe so :) no worries either way but it looked a lot like OPs :)

Hope OP doesn't mind me jumping on their thread, but I have a half blue-laced Red Wyandotte that looks pretty similar. I've wanted to learn more about the whole red leakage on the shoulder. I am hoping if this is a hen it can be a good comparison for OP, or if a rooster then more confirmation on why.

Same age as OP's: just shy of 7 weeks.

I was thinking she is a hen because comb and wattles aren't on par with some of her seemingly half-brothers.

Is this what you mean by red leakage and this is also a roo? Or, because her dad was a blue-laced Red Wyandotte, that could just be her pattern?
I'm no wyandotte master but I'm getting boy vibes. I looked through this which has nice side-by-sides, I feel like yours is a little column A a little column B, I'd give it some extra time but I wouldn't count it pullet just yet personally (and maybe be pleasantly surprised later!)

Your chick is a female. Is she only half Wyandotte or only half BLR? She has clean lacing if she is only half Wyandotte.

Compare your girl to OPs Wyanddote. He has one strip that goes all the way across his back. In this case the red color has nothing to do with gender since both sexes are red. When we talk about a rusty red being a male trait, it's usually with Easter Eggers,
mixed breeds, or with certain pattern types. The red comes in unevenly or in big patches on the shoulders and/or the hackle and saddle areas.

Her pattern has nice and distinct lacing down her back.

You can see my silver laced Wyandotte boy has the same block of color on the shoulders.

Leakage does not have to be red either. The Easter Egger in the first picture has white and red leakage that goes across his shoulders which is how you can tell he is a male.

Clarification: there were no Wyandotte hens.

This is the rooster dad. I was told he is a Blue-laced Red Wyandotte. This was the only rooster the flock-master had. The hens are a mystery though because I believe she had 20+ at the time-- olive eggers, sapphire gems mix, white leghorns, copper Marans, two swedish flowers, and I'm sure a couple other types.
