Hello all ,

Today I have a question tegaregar coccidioisis , staphylococcus infection and necrotic enteritis symptoms and treatment.

Oral amoxicillin causing sour crop . Now I am looking forward to give my chicken a n antibiotic shot either

lincomycin , amoxicillin 15 percent , ceftriaxone or oxytetracycline 50mg .fo f enteritis .

For cocicoccidio amprolium. Now should I use both at same time or should I wait for 5 days while using amprolium?

He has itching around his vent .

And help would be highly appreciated

Thanks.

Poops are dark coloured. Has bumble foot too. Is bumble foot causing infection in blood ? Avian vet ate hard to find here.

I would try to get some diagnostic testing (a fecal float test and gram stain) that would confirm what you are seeing. Where sre you located? Just because he has bumblefoot, that doesn’t mean that it is affecting his whole body. How bad is the bumblefoot infection. Do you have pictures? Bumblefoot can be treated with soaking or sometimes surgery if it is

Amprollium will treat the possible coccidiosis. Then if he is still showing symptoms later, you may treat with an antibiotic specific for enteritis, such as one of those you mentioned, such as amoxicillin, oxytetracycline, as well as Tylan or tylosin. Antibiotics should not be used unnecessarily in chickens. Tylan (tylosin) is the only one approved for poultry in the US, although some vets may prescribe others. Amprollium is not an antibiotic. If ceftriaxone is needed for bumblefoot, it may be too advanced for a cure.

Thanks all for your suggestions. Unfortunately vets don't go for tests. Neither they listen to you. They so what they want to do

This is my only rooster left and my beloved one. If I will ask them he has coccidiosis they would ask how so you know , it's nothing just a bumbnufoot infection.

I know coccidiosis or entetiten is there too. Although they have green mucus diarrhea with some rassish brown smelly poops.

Previously we have had a positive report for coccidiosis.

Bumbnufoot caused by staphylococcus infection s,auras . It can kill a bits if it converts into sepsis.

This is my main concern. If I use antibiotic it will be not good for him to have an immunity to fight coccidiosis.

If I coccidiosis , then that staph infection would have gone into blood stream. I am too much sttesstr out now. Not been able to sleep for 3 says constantly.

Vet sboush diagnose accurately. My main concern.

As for medicine , they give you septtas or bacttim for coccidiosis. Is this make any sense?

Vet tols me to inject him with amoxicillin LA 40 mg per kg .for two days.

I did but no improve ment , sour crop and mucus in diarrhea.

He is well dehydrated , and again if I am going to ask him for drip , he would say birds sontd need this.

I mean thay don't have life , only canine have.

Stubborn attitude that hurts alot

The bactrim or septra is a common antibiotic that is good to treat many different infections in skin, some respiratory diseases, coccidiosis, and other things. The amoxicillin may help with bumblefoot. Unfortunately your rooster may be too sick to survive, but I would give him dry and wet chicken feed, cooked egg, and a bit of plain yogurt with cultures or buttermilk that has probiotics for his intestinal health. That helps when they have benn on antibiotics. If he has a slow or sour crop, then be careful, and make sure that he is drinking enough fluids.

It can be frustrating since some vets do not think of chickens as pets.

Now you people can tell me how to give subcutaneous fluid to a bits.

Ringer lactate
Saline 0.9
Or dextrose .

Thanks.
