Hey all!!
I’ve had two ducks for about a year and I’m not 100% sure exactly what they are…
I’m most curious about our female to be honest.
Our male All black as a duckling.
Now has black legs, black beak, black body - but when the sunlight hits him, his head is this gorgeous iridescent green. Then his feathers shine purple in the sun as well. And he has 1 single little white feather thrown in the mix on his wings.
His temperament is a bit sassy (he gets after the dogs for no reason lol), doesn’t love to be held (plays the “dead neck” when being held, does trust us enough to get close to him but again, prefers to be left alone. Knows name.
Our female- originally yellow & brown as a duckling, is now mostly grey with darker tips at the ends of her wings. Darker head than her body. Beak is mostly dark with yellow at the end of it & she also has yellow legs/feet(feet spotted with bits of grey/black.
Now our female… She is much sweeter. She doesn’t mind being loved on. Is great with our daughter, hand feeds without being timid, knows her name & loves our young daughter.
I’ll attach photos for better reference.
There is one baby photo I have of our female - you can hardly see the male in the background.
There’s also a photo of her with her duckling that just hatched yesterday!
I was hoping that some detail about their personalities could be helpful.
Any suggestions is beyond appreciated!
Thank you!
