I've googled every variation of this question and can't seem to get a straight answer. Don't worry I don't have any chickens that have been attacked by cats, but I have been told with parrots that if a cat bites or scratches them they are very unlikely to recover since the bacteria in a cat's claws is deadly to them. Question popped into my head after I saw a video of a mama hen fighting with a stray cat that wanted to eat her babies.

No, death is not an automatic outcome when cat attacks are involved -- while death *may* occur IF infection sets in, more often than not you are able to use basic wound management and come out the other side with a fully recovered bird.
