I’m just an anxious, first-time goose mama trying to quell her fears 😅

According to Metzer Farms, these two are both female. They were ordered as female, labeled as female, and banded as female, but I’m starting to get worried sick that one (or both..) are ganders. It’s still quite early, they’re 14 weeks today, so I don’t expect a guaranteed answer, but an idea would be nice.. I’ll post again at 6 months if I’m still unsure.

My African has become rather aggressive to my smallest dog, my ducks, and has tried to be aggressive to my alpacas / Great Dane to no avail. She is very sweet to me, maybe a little too sweet.. I’ve observed her attempting to mate my leg as early as 10 weeks old. She’s also attempted to mount a gallon jug  She has a deep, loud honk when saying hello / when excited, but will get a bit softer and high pitched when she’s talking about hay or food. Also, her knob first started growing in at 9 weeks old.

My Buff will hiss and maybe do a small chase, but is otherwise tame to my other animals, and to me, of course. No mating attempts from her. She says “ababababa” most of the time, but has this seagull-screech when she’s really excited.

Here’s a video of their appearance, them talking, and them reacting to my ducks walking by.

My experience with Metzers is they do a good job at sexing day olds. Females will mount when in season even when there is a male available. Production African are a little more aggressive than buffs so she will probably do allot of mounting. Mama my little african girl would mount all the girls so the boy would only breed her. I ended up re homing here and my fertility improved with all the other girls.
