At-home fecal worm test

I have not, but this would be of great help to those that do not have a willing vet.
Interested to see if anyone has any experience with it.

That is the same one listed on TheChickenChick's site, so it is probably worth trying. Let us know how your experience is with the product. Honestly, I do not think a lot of vets will check droppings without seeing the chicken very often. Mine would as a favor, but many would not unless I was a regular.

Yeah, I found out about it from one of TheChickenChick's articles. It almost seems too good to be true! Especially if I can get it at my local Petco.

So I have done the at-home fecal worm test for one of my chickens (she tested negative). The instructions were a little repetitive and unclear, but apparently I filled it out correctly! I got the results back in two business days by phone and email. In total it cost me about $25.50 with a Petco coupon and including shipping from Petco, shipping to the lab, and tax.

Oh, I should probably also mention...The instructions in the form say to put six stamps on the included envelope. That ended up not being enough for mine (it was 6 cents short). So for those who are planning on using this product, be sure to have the package weighed.

I have used a similar service here in the UK for many years for my horses and in the last few years they started offering the poultry service as well and I have bought a sample pack for them but have yet to use it. For poultry you can take samples from up to 10 chickens I believe and combine them in the same pot for a general flock screening or do individual samples. The cost is an awful lot cheaper here at just under £10 for the poultry kit which includes the sample pot, labels and paid first class return postage for the sample... so you don't need to put stamps on. I usually get next day results for my horse samples. It says they check for coccidia, round worms and another parasite, which I can't remember off the top of my head, for the poultry sample, so excellent value in my opinion. They are also happy for you to ring them if you have any particular queries and they have given me worming advice over the phone in the past. I can't rate the business highly enough.... fast, professional and friendly.... if anyone in the UK is reading this, they are called Westgate Labs.
