I'm wondering if anyone has experience with Azure blues. Theres not much information about them online. I'm picking up pullets tonight and was hoping to be able to tell whether or not they were really pullets or roosters but cant even find photos of the two genders. Just rehomed multiple roosters after struggling to find someone to take them for months so I don't want to end up in the same situation Haha. Thanks

It should just be regular sexing, avoid sharp saddle feathers and very sharp hackle feathers, don't pick ones with Giant Red Combs, aim for the lighter smaller ones (dominant hens can have larger combs though!) Azure gems are a hatchery made breed right? Do they have pea/rose combs or single combs? :D if pea/rose the cockerels should not only be a little more red but also generally have very Wide combs compared to the ladies!

Thank you for your help!! I honestly don't know what they look like (there werent pics with the ad) but I'm starting to think they are a hatchery made breed due to the lack of info. I just want to add some blue eggs to my flock! Will be looking at feathering and combs. Thanks again.

Did you get the Azure Blues? I picked up 4 hens yesterday and 2 brown production hens. The Blues are white with grey splash, one has grey legs the other 3 have yellow legs. Here is a picture.

I just got a few also, but they are just three weeks old. Mine are getting a lot of black spots in their feathering, I expected an all yellow chick that would turn white. Anyone else have azure blues with black spots?
I think my Azure Blues originally came from Ontario Canada. I called Frey's hatchery and spoke to the first lady who answered. From our conversation I believe they have been crossed with the white Leg Horns. I mentioned they are skittish and flighty she agreed.
I see someone produces them in the US. Seems like they produced these with different crosses. I'm not sure, I can not find any detail on the net.

Mine also came from Freys. They are very skittish aren’t they! I was surprised, but at the same time I do not have experience with much other than broilers and silkies so far, and neither of those breeds seem to be afraid of much. The silkies would try to cuddle a coyote if it came close enough, the broilers would probably try to eat it lol. I believe they would succeed too, they are vicious!

My azures quite like my daughter, they moved outdoors into a small pen today and are terrified of me because I moved them, but my 5 year old was out talking to me by their coop and they literally tried to jump through the wiring to her. So I do see the potential to be a very friendly garden chicken. We are currently sitting in lawn chairs by them to calm them down.

Three of my Azures have yellow legs and beaks. One has white legs with grey and grey beak. Two are almost pure white the other two have allot of grey flecks and their neck hackles are more of a purple mauve tint to them. One bird also has some orange or buff feathers as well.
