Hello all, I have about 2 week old buff orpington that is missing feathers around her left eye. I have been keeping a close eye on her and the patch seems to be getting bigger. As I have watched it does not seem like the other chicks are picking on her but still not ruling that out as it's not possible for me to be with them 24/7. She is with 12 other chicks right now. Not sure if any of you have ideas on what this could be? None of the other chicks have this problem. Attached are 1 picture of her good eye(right) and bad eye(left). Thank you all for your help.

Is there any bubbles in the eye or crusty drainage from the eye discharge? It could be sign of possible respiratory disease such as MG or something in the eye from bedding, but chicks will scratch their eye or get their eyes pecked. I agree with @Sondraa to flush the eye with saline or an eye wash such as Bausch and Lomb Eye Relief Eye Wash 2-3 times a day. The apply either Terramycin eye ointment or plain Neosporin into the eye 2-3 times daily. Saline should be made with 2 tsp of salt to a quart of water (1 tsp per 16 ounces or 1/2 tsp per 8 ounce cup.) Boil, reduce to simmer for 15 minutes, and cool, and that is sterile.
