Seeking Advice for 3-Week-Old Duckling with Joint Issues and Blindness
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some guidance and insights. I have a 3-week-old duckling who was born with severe joint deformities—her leg joints are misaligned and facing the wrong direction. The vet has confirmed that it’s a congenital issue, not a niacin deficiency. Surgery and splinting have been ruled out as viable options. She’s also blind but has an incredible will to live, and I want to give her the best quality of life possible.
I recently connected with someone online who can create custom 3D-printed leg braces. The idea is to help support her legs and improve her mobility, even if it doesn’t fully correct the deformity.
Has anyone here had experience using 3D-printed braces for ducks or other poultry? I’d love to hear about your experiences, advice, or any tips on caring for a special-needs duck. She’s such a fighter, and I want to do everything I can to help her thrive!
Thank you in advance for your support!
