I know this is a chicken website, but I just googled a question for my baby ducklings and it lead me here. If anyone has any advice please help! My daughter and I rescued two baby Mallard ducks (2-3 weeks old) from our backyard. The mother had been attacked and killed by something. I got unmedicated feed from the store and a head lamp and have a little setup for them in a tote. I also have another tote with a little bit of water in it (their feet can touch the bottom) that I let them dip into a few times a day. I have the food and a bowl of water for them available 24/7 for them in their tote. We have had them about 5 days now. We hand feed them at least once a day just to ensure they are eating. The past 2 nights one of them will not eat at all from my hand and it feels warm. I put her in the water tote today for a few minutes to cool off and she still feels warm. Her attitude is normal, she is not acting lethargic or anything but I just want to make sure I am taking proper care of them. Also I keep a little water bowl in their tote but I don’t try to get them to drink from anything manually and it seems like they are always jumping in the little water bowl so it gets dirty almost immediately. Does anyone have advice?? Thank you!!
