How long should new baby quail sleep for , mine have been asleep all night and still resting and it’s 10:50 am U.K.

Not sure. I have new baby quail too. I top off their food and water every 2-4 hrs., even during the night. They come out from under the heat plate to eat and drink every time I top off.

Edit to add mine are button/king quail.

If it is dark they will be inactive, if they are cold likewise, usually they all cat nap for a bit then somebody gets startled or hungry and they all jump, run around, peck at stuff, then fall asleep again…sleeping for hours on end means something is likely wrong, they shouldn’t be dopey and comatose or heavy sleepers, sometimes I think they are on meth or at least caffeine! They sleep hard but wake up easy and on the run. Quiet, inactive chicks can mean dark, cold, or not feeling well. They should be active, quiet chirps, always eating, drinking, pooping and doubling in size every 5 minutes (joke!) along with falling asleep in totally random places and positions. You want your brooder 90F and higher (with a cooler end too!) and if you are using a dark heat source make sure they get some light as well (12 hours or so). Also make sure they know how to get feed and water (I have some 3 week old chicks that are being incredibly dense about all of this, sometimes they need help with the very basics!). Happy chicks are hilarious chicks! Maybe buttons are different, but coturnix are nuts (and adorable).
