Hello, I have to give my best bet on which of my 5 silkie chicks is a girl and a boy by this week or month the latest. I know I can't be 100% sure. But I would like to see baby pics of your baby silkies at ages 1-4 weeks old if you have any, so I can give my best guess. I would also like, if you do post a pic, to say if that chick turned out to be a boy or a girl. More preferably white silkie standard pics.

At that age, it's just a guess is all. Youll be 50% right though more than likely! Many have tried to come up with a way to figure this out sooner but nothing but DNA works.

These two are about 4 weeks here. I had no idea at the time. They both are hens.

Thanks. It is all just a guess! Is there such a thing as sexlinked silkies? If so were would I get some? I usually judge on the size of the silkie, as the bigger ones seem to be the roo in most cases.

Yes, there are sex-linked silkies, and the ones in my breeding pen do determine sex. I ignore it though as I sell them straight-run, $10 each or 6 for $50. If I started selling the ones I know are pullets for say $15, the cockerals, even though some are split to chocolate, I'd be most-likely giving them away. I didn't want to deal with it so straight run it is!

I have a Mauve rooster who is with a silver splash, chocolate, and a black hen.

Here's one link I use to find out what they will produce, so you can see for instance what I've got going on. https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...n-color-genetics.1219858/page-2#post-19511066

Yes, that is smart to sell a straight run. But the thing is, it's a family member buying and they want 1 roo and one hen.
