In need of assistance or advice, I have 6 baby chicks and 1 of them is a bantam. She is so small (obviously) but has not grown in the full week I have had her. One of my chicks is growing 10-15 grams a day, but this girl hasn't grown a single gram. She is still at 24 grams. She eats and drinks like normal, but since the rest are growing she is starting to get bullied. It is so sad watching her like she got left behind or something. My concern isn't that she is sick, and really isn't even the bullying because they will still cuddle up next to her while they sleep. I think the "bullying" is definitely just each one trying to assert themselves in the pecking order. She will even assert herself during huddle time by standing taller than the others and flapping her baby little wings a little bit. Any time I look this up on Google or on BYC, I can't find anything useful on the topic. Has anyone noticed this type of stunted growth? I had to pull her out of the brooder this evening and let her sleep on my chest because the others were all up and jumping on her while they were trying to eat and play. She definitely needs something but I have no idea what it is. Failure to thrive maybe???

Oh, she’s so cute!! Hopefully nothing is wrong and she is just developing slowly. I recently hatched a bunch of chicks, and one stayed tiny. The ones that were a week younger than her quickly surpassed her in size. And now she is still one of the smallest. But she is growing. It just happened at a slower pace. It may have been failure to thrive, and honestly I thought I would lose the chick in the first two weeks. But thankfully now she seems pretty normal (at 6 weeks old) and you can’t really tell that she had a rough start, besides just being a little smaller than the others still.
