I'm just real curious if anyone has had a Banty go broody and be successful because we have 6 hens and have the option to get a free rooster and be able to have fertile eggs.

I'm just wondering if anyone has had them sit on eggs for 21 days and hatched a couple.

Thanks,Collin

Bantys raise chicks just like bigger hens. I had an Old English banty pair hatch five out of seven eggs the first week in August last year...four hens and a roo. Now one of those little hens is sitting on seven eggs...they are due to hatch the 18-19th.

I have about 30 free range banty hens and it seems that at least one of them is broody at all times

My Japanese hens are the WORST! I used to try to break them and take their eggs, but I gave up.

They are good moms so I figure just let them have at it.....one hen hatched chicks in the middle of November, I left them alone and she took the best care of her chicks even in the bitter cold. I ended up with 5 roos and 1 pullet out of that hatch

I just found homes for the boys and still have the little pullet.

I have a little OEGB hen sitting on 4 eggs right now, should hatch middle of next week (I think! She was "missing" for a couple of days before I found her). I am excited, I love seeing the moms and babies out together, it's precious!
