Hi all,

Noticed today that my buff orphington has some bare feather stems around her vent. Couldnt get a good photo, but it's like a bunch of stems. Myther one doesn't have anything like this, so just wondering if it's symptoms of anything I should check further?

Behavior is all normal, just came out of being broody so not laying, couldn't see any redness around the bare feathers, vent was clean.

Thanks in advanced,
Waywind

Looks like new feather growth where the sheath has not come off yet. Give it some time.
You are in AU so your are going into Fall/Autumn right? That is the time of year most birds molt. How old is she?

Hi Wyorp :)

Correct, we are just entering our autumn season. She had a hard moult last month actually, but most of her feathers are back. Just thought this patch location was quite odd.

She's just about one year old by now.

Appreciate your reply
