My neighbor and I ordered chickens together to save on shipping costs, and we thought one chick was wrong. I kept the "wrong" one and I think it's turning out to be a barred rock. We also ordered dominiques and I'm not sure if I'm getting the two confused. Can anyone confirm what these two beauties are?

Thanks in advance!

It's hard to tell due to picture quality (sorry), but they have completely different combs. We also didn't order barred rocks which is why I'm unsure what they are. We did order female dominiques, but I know sexing isn't 100% accurate.

the second bird, with a rose comb, is a Dominique.

I suppose technically straight combs could pop up in Dominique lines just as they do in Wyandottes, another rose comb breed. But, I think the first bird is a Rock. Dominiques are lighter bodied birds, sleeker built than rocks and the first bird looks pretty sturdy. I think you got a Rock by mistake.

That's what I was thinking. Just wanted some confirmation! We also ended up with a speckled sussex roo instead of the 2 females we ordered, which is unfortunate. But he sure is handsome!!!

I agree.
