Im looking to add better sand/dirt to my girls coop (around at least half of it to be exact) . I do have a few things though, it has to be something that wont get damaged by rain or become icky (the coop is opened all around so water gets in very easily) . I would like something that wont harm the bugs or creatures under so they can still scratch in there and find things but the ants are bothersome :barnie-they can go and I would be so happy!
If not, just anything good for them that is waterproof that they will enjoy!Any ideas?

Maybe you should concentrate more on making a water proof place?
Maybe the top of a covered kitty litter box or one of those dog igloos?

Is the rain coming in the side of enclosure or running in along the ground from surrounding areas?

Hm yes that can be done too.. good idea! & only from the sides when it’s raining from an angle (like the edges of the inside coop would get wet but not the center)
