BCM mix--barred rock with crest? Lady or Gent?

BCM roo over assorted hens...her goal was olive eggers. This looks like barred rock, but has a crest? Do you think boy or girl? Approximately 8 weeks old. What other breeds are crested like legbars? Thanks!

If it is 8 weeks old, then probably a male with comb and wattles of that size. It does look like a cuckoo Marans cross, maybe with one of those Legbar type Easter eggers with the little crests.

I'm leaning towards a hen. The striping is very dark. Usually with barred rocks you will find that the hens a single black and white stripe pattern. With the roosters they have a double white and a single black stripe pattern. Giving them a lighter appearance. Also the color of the comb is still very pale which I'm leaning towards a hen also. The third thing is is the comb. Typically I find the roosters Combs to be much larger fullness across the top. This comb has more of a hens look. I am by no means an expert. I have definitely had my fair share of roosters that I have hatched. So I have learned a few things by experience and also gained knowledge from other chicken owners. Of course the true truth will be whether or not it starts growing or popping out breakfast. I wish you luck I hope that it's a hen. LOL

I just happened to notice that this post was a month ago. You should without a doubt know the color of the comb.. if it was a rooster it would be red. There is a big difference in color between the roosters and the hens even at Young ages. I've also found that my roosters will get a even redder comb when they're hormones are in place.
