Hi! I've read that BCM eggs are a bit thicker and can have a harder time hatching. The BCM egg I got in a BYM for incubating pipped yesterday around 6pm and the pip has grown a little and I can see a little membrane, but it hasn't progressed for a while. I do see the beak on and off. Five chicks have hatched so far and one keeps trying to sit on the BCM egg. 🤣

How long do I wait before I should be concerned about the membrane drying out?

HI, I had 1 pip like that last year but I was TOO patient and waited till the next day and it died. I would go for it.

You're totally right, they're thicker.

I keep editing... 😆

My wife takes a wet QTIP and gently moistens / wets (? is that the right word??) down the shell and then gently pulls it off. Works great

How'd things turn out ?

Black copper maran! The rooster and some of the hens these are from is a BCM x mystic maran cross.
They’re very cute.

I think two of the eggs I’m hatching are from a mum the same as yours, the BCM! Why did I think bantam 😂 maybe because it is the bantam version…
