Never thought I’d have to be asking this but here I am. My daughters fiancé‘s family kind of just gets pets as if they’re not actually breathing creatures and they got themselves a bearded dragon and it is not being well. Taken care of is just about ready to let it out in the wild. Which is kinda screwed up considering this thing was born and raised in an enclosure so I told them they could bring it over here to my house so she could be cared for
She’s not exactly friendly yet they’ve been working on that and from what I understand she’s just kind of in a large aquarium. Any advice or suggestions or anything because I don’t never own reptiles and any information would help. Because I want to make sure she’s having a good life, but I don’t know a damn thing about reptiles.lol.
I’ll send this was very unplanned for such as life. 😂

I should be able to get a picture from my daughter today and I’m trying to make space in my house after my appointments today. So I should be able to send a picture. And I’m hoping when she’s over here to get her a little more friendly. I think where she’s at with, so many kids in the house it’s just kind of chaotic so I think she’ll a bit more relaxed over here. (and without a grown man baby constantly screaming) Because it’s just me and my cat and I’m usually at work. But any advice would help because I didn’t plan on the bearded dragon, but any animal who lives here has a good life. Healthy and happy

I have a Beardie! Here are the essentials:
  • ~120 gallon terrarium
  • Digital thermometers - one for ambient temps and an infrared for surface temps
  • Basking lamp over a basking rock/tile - basking temperature should be 100-107°F; raise or lower lamp and/or bulb wattage to get the right temperature
  • UVB tube lamp - Over the basking side (see this chart for distance from basking area); bulb changed out every 6 months
  • Supplements - phosphorus-free calcium and calcium with D3 and a multivitamin (with beta carotene, NOT retinol); research dosages depending on age of Beardie
  • Feeder insects - gutloaded with calcium-rich foods; research best staple feeders and amount depending on age of Beardie
  • Fruits and vegetables - offered daily and sprayed with water; research best fruits and veggies
Some people offer a water dish and some don't, so do your research on that to decide what's best for your dragon in your climate. Some think spraying the veggies and dripping water on the dragon's nose is enough. Beardies do need regular baths though - they help to clean and hydrate them.

My daughter is going to get a picture when she can. Her and her boyfriend rent the basement which is kind of like a small apartment at his parents house and they will not let anybody near Lizzie. They don’t want her at the house and the dad is starting to talk about just let her out and loose in the wild. This is why she’s coming to my house. I won’t go into detail, but yeah, there’s some issues there but anyway, as soon as she can, she’s gonna send me a picture of the aquarium and she does know a decent amount of care since she started living there, and realized Lizzy was not well She seems to be health wise doing much better but she needs to be in a better place. I guess you could say. Become a bit more friendly, but I think the problem over there is a lot of young children (and screaming adults) and a lot of noise and chaos and I feel like a bearded dragon would be much happier in a calmer environment
So as soon as she sends those to me, I will post them because I appreciate any help I can get.
I have a rule in my house that any animals or humans are to stay as happy and healthy as possible.

Wow! A 120?! I use a 50, but she gets to come out a lot.

For an adult Beardie, yes, about 120 gallons or 4'x2'x2' is best. Mine is 118 gallons (layout is still in progress).
