Hello everyone, today I'm going to share the story of Wonky the chicken. Cuddle in with a blanket and let's get into this interesting story!
It all started one cool summer morning, the birds were singing and the neighbors goats basking in the warm sun. As the day went by, I decided to go for an afternoon walk around our property. All was good until I seen a black ball in the distance, whatever it was laid motionless. I walked over slowly, eager to see what it was. As I walked up, that's when I realized it was a chicken! I was pretty sure it was just dust bathing or enjoying the warm sun, but when I bent down to make sure, the chicken wouldn't move. I knew something was wrong, so I ran in the house to grab a box. When I got back out to the chicken, I attempted to pick it up. I then found out that she was paralyzed. The poor thing couldn't move the lower half of its body. I knew this chicken was not one of mine, as it was an australorp, and I breed bantams. So I contacted the neighbors to see if it the chicken was theirs. I confirmed that It was a hen, and that she did belong to them, but they made it clear they had nothing to do with a injured chicken. The husband also went on saying that he knew nothing about chickens, and had them to lay eggs. These poor birds didn't even have a coop! I agreed to take this sweet girl, even if she couldn't walk.
So after months of doing warms bath soaks and probiotics, she started moving her feet. Even though she only was able to twitch her toes, it was improvement! So I continued to work with her, and one day she walked! I was so happy for her, I cried so much that day. She loved making friends, and I even got her friends her size instead of bantams.
Today she laid her first egg, and was
determined to tell the whole coop! I am so happy for her, and Even though she still walks lop sided, I believe that nothing is going to stop her!
