Best breed for eating flies and bugs?

Last year I had Muscovy ducks and they were awesome little fly eaters.

I would like to get ducks again this year (to keep as pets this time) and would love some that are great at eating flies. Are all ducks excellent at this or should I get some muscovies again?

I'd recommend Muscovies again, which make fine pets as well. There really isn't another breed of duck that makes good pest control.

I am of the opinion that runner ducks are the fastest and most voracious insect eaters known to man. But I could be wrong, Guineas also have a stellar reputation for destroying insects as well. Particularly when it comes to hunting ticks.

I read the title and instantly thought muscovies. Slightly biased, maybe. But I have read published studies using muscovies mixed into cattle pastures to reduce flies.

My runners are so funny when bug catching bugs and boy are they fast! They snap them right out of the air. When winter turned to spring here they really really like that the bugs were back!

Mice (peck them to death, the babies they eat).

Maybe others with Indian runners or muscovies share what they do and do not eat. There might be a difference in what they eat, I can immagine that muscovy's are more skilled on watercritters, and I have heard they are a pro in termites.
That way it is easier to compare it to your personal pests you want to get rid off.

my muscovies and indian runner eat mosquito larvae and lizards. they would eat frogs, fish, etc. if given chance.

I have both Runners and Muscovys both are excellent at what they do with bugs etch Muscovys have even been called the mosquito duck because of their fondness for the egg. Mine snatch them out of the air too.

Anconas are known for their foraging abilities. Lots of people get them specifically for foraging through their gardens and keeping the bugs and slugs off their plants. I have three 5 week old ducklings and they are already amazing me with their foraging. And they're very social as well.

I have Rouen ducks and we haven't had any mosquitoes or chiggers or snakes, but we have lots of flies. We live on a dairy farm so that unfortunately seems to come with the territory. Just got Swedish Blue Ducks in February so I'm looking forward to seeing if they will cut down the pest population too. Hatching out some Pekin ducklings now I don't know if they help with anything yet or not, time will tell.
