Best first dove?

Looking to purchase a dove and I have several questions.
1) best place to purchase?
2) best type of dove for someone looking for an affectionate companion pet?
3) I love how turtle doves look, are they good pets?

Would you consider a Pigeon as a pet.? @Serin keeps one indoors and makes a very good pet, and is trained.
