Best Place to Get Turkey Poults?

I’m thinking of getting different heritage turkeys to start some color projects next year. I messaged Porters a week or two ago for help with color ID (thanks for everyone helping with that) and about when they’d be hatching, but haven’t gotten a response. Is there anywhere OTHER than Porters that might be I good start? I’m worried they aren’t open but maybe that’s silly of me.

I’m looking for Calico/Sweetgrass/Fall Fire, but also open to many others. Seems those are hard to find! I think Fall Fire Farms was recommended too but they don’t ship. I might be crazy enough for a road trip but I think I’d need to figure out the safest way, it’s an 8hr drive for me.

Porter has Early bird specials most years. Shipping doesn't start until late spring. First to order are the first to ship.

I figured. I was trying to ask what they’d have and find out all about ordering, but never got a response. I was a little vague telling you guys what I contacted porters about, oops. Maybe there’s a line of us I know they’ve quit for the year and the website says to contact for orders in general; fingers crossed!

Yeah he's been working on the new website and color calculator if I remember correctly.

Awesome! Do the prices vary by variety? I’m guessing he’ll be updating before the season and before he takes orders.

some of the rarer ones have been more.

Neat! We don’t have a lot of heritage turkeys around other than bronze, bourbon red, and royal palm; maybe I can change that haha.

Anyone ever ordered from other hatcheries? I got 15 chicks several years ago and all but two died in the first week, my Slate and my chocolate hen took a lot of hand feeding and supplements, but I can’t remember the hatchery

I haven't had any issues raising poults from any of the hatcheries that I have ordered from.

If the time in transit is extended, that can contribute to poult losses.

Maybe that was it? I think it was overnight but who knows how they were treated before I got them. I’ve read horror stories of boxes of dead ones and I’d hate to lose them all. Porters has been the number one for quality and health that I’ve seen, I’m hoping I can get an order in buuuut just in case
