I am thinking about adding Cinnamon queen hens to my flock, but I don't have a Cinnamon queen rooster.

Which rooster will be the best to mate with a Cinnamon Queen?

1. Rhode Island Red
2. Crested Cream Legbar
3. Blue Cuckoo Maran
4. Heritage Plymouth Barred Rock X 2
5. Easter Egger mix of a barred rock over an ameraucana
6. Barnyard mix of a barred rock over a black australorp

Thank you!

My goals for breeding are high egg production and/or interesting egg colors. It would be a bonus if there is any auto sexing or sex - linking.
I would say the Barred Rock or Barred Rock/Australorp mix for high egg production then. Or the RIR would be good too. For cool egg colors, any of the others would work.

If you want fun egg colors, then I'd go for the cream legbar. That cross should give you olive eggers. Production should be fairly good as well since cinnamon queens are production birds

If you used a Plymouth Barred rock hen over a cinnamon Queen rooster you would get sex links and all your males would Barred but it doesn't work the other way around. You could also use the Barred maran hen the same. But I don't know if you have hens in those breeds too.

The legbars also have barring so if you have females you could use them for the Barred portion too.

What hens do you have besides the CQ?

Thank you. The current hens we have are:
4 barred rocks

2 silver laced wyandottes

1 ameraucana

3 blue cuckoo marans

3 mixes of - one easter egger BR over ameraucana, one BR over black australorp, and one BR over silver laced wyandotte. So all of these 3 have the single barring since their dad is a BR

I don't know exactly what they will look like but it seems like your Rhode island red rooster is the only non Barred rooster you have. You can use him over the Barred Plymouth Rock hens and the cuckoo marans. You also should get auto sexing chicks by breeding your BR hens to the BR roo- head dots are more noticeable on the males but both sexes will have them.

I am not any kind of expert when it comes to genetics or sex link crosses so I can't really say if the mixes you listed will be useful for sexlinks or not

We have an Ameraucana, some Silver laced Wyandottes, some Plymouth barred rocks, Easter Egger (BR rooster + Ameraucana), Mix (BR rooster + Silver Laced Wyandotte), Mix (BR rooster + Black Australorp), and some Blue Cuckoo Marans.
