converting an old plastic playhouse into a small second coop to help with grow-out and see-but-not-touch integration of 3 new chicks/pullets to my current flock of 6. Was thinking about using this as a temporary/removable run as part of that system. (Would put down some wire underneath to make it more predator resistant and find a way to anchor it to the ground so cant be flipped easily by raccoons, don't worry) If I need to maintain the small second coop and run this could stay in place and if integration is smooth it could be put away and the playhouse coop easily dragged around to side of garage until needed again. The run could also be used in the garage to temporarily contain the girls if they had to come inside to escape some sort of weather emergency?

Anyway, it seems like it could be used in a lot of different ways but am wondering if it is too good to be true? Does anybody own one or have some thoughts? Would welcome suggestions.

I think it could work really well if you covered it with hardware cloth, but I would put an apron around it instead of wire underneath, as they could get their feet caught in it. It looks like it might be a little flimsy, but overall I think it'd make a really good temporary run/integration pen! You might need to make the locks harder to open for raccoons with carabiner clips or something similar, depending on what the locks are. I think it's great! If it doesn't work for outside, it would at least make a good inside-of-the-garage brooder or shelter for bad weather, like you suggested.
Good luck with it if you decide to use it!

Hmmm...there was a thread about these units, with a rather lengthy discussion, not too long ago. Can't remember if there was consensus and/or results of the OP buying one and using it.
