Bill Keene's "Building a Chicken Coop" e-book?

I did buy it. There were plans for small, medium, and large coops. There was also a down-loadable 'chicken primer' if you will with general info about chickens and raising them.

The plans would probably be helpful to an architect, but left me a bit baffled. I printed them out for my husband (the engineer). He looked them over, but ended up designing his own structure with the help of a few different books I had and LOTS of my 'help' from things I read on this website before we began.

I mean no disrespect to Bill Keene - they looked like good coops, but I've gotten more info - with photos - from this forum.

Just my opinion

I bought it and then was really stunned at all the stuff contained in the various booklets. It was just a bunch of info about chickens that I already knew. The coop plans themselves weemed very nice and detailed- but not geared toward a beginner builder at al!! Way TOO complicated!

I emailed the seller and complained that I hadn't got what was advertised, "detailed instructions for the beginner"
So.. I got refund for my total $30 paid.

I am satisfied with their money- back guarantee.

ended up building a coop out of scrap wood and two old dog houses.... oh well!

I've tried to Google free chicken design plans and most of them lead me to this http://www.buildingachickencoop.com/?hop=lwross. Has anyone bought this and if so, what did you think? Is it worth the $30?

I know I'm not really answering your question but like you everywhere I looked, especially searching free designs I came across that ad to the point that I was soooo very annoyed I wouldn't buy it just to spite them.

(o.k. a little childish of me but I felt they kept on misrepresenting themselves by putting up these fake free plan notices)

I did buy a plan, the playhouse coop but decided it wasn't really what I wanted either and wasn't entirely clear. In the end I got a largish rabbit hutch but it will need renovating and hopefully we won't make a botch.

I think if you aren't going to buy a specific plan (and if like me you don't know anything about building) you can really get some good information from looking at the coops here. https://www.backyardchickens.com/coopdesigns.html
In fact there was a coop design contest just recently and one of the criteria was that the person have clear info on their process. That doesn't mean everyone took the time but some did. And they may be open to sharing a little more with you if you ask nicely.

Good luck
