So, I bought 5 silkie chicks last week and unfortunately 3 of the 5 passed. I was hoping to have a flock of 5 and only having two sounds so sad to me :(

So, I know that biosecurity is a thing but I'm wondering how it's done for chicks? I can't think of the right phrasing to google it myself so thought I'd ask here. If they are roughly the same age and size, do they need to be separate for basically the whole time they're in the brooder since thats about a month? Or could they be separate for a week and then be joined together? Do baby chicks integrate better than adults? I just would love to give my other two silkies some more friends, they love each other but seem a little bored/lonely. But ultimately I want to keep them safe since Ive had so much loss already. What do you guys think?

I have gotten chicks from two different sources, feed stores in town that get their checks from different places, and put them together without any issues. I did make sure that they were the same age.
