i have 4 chicks and i think it’s 20 by 19 inches i don’t have anything else to put them rn other than a bin or the bird cage
That's too small, once you add feeder and water there's very little floor space left. At 2 weeks you want at least 4 sq ft of open floor space for the birds to use, and your cage is less than that.i have 4 chicks and i think it’s 20 by 19 inches i don’t have anything else to put them rn other than a bin or the bird cage
i have 2 heat mats, i have 2 roosters and a hen ( the hen is separated from roosters), the coop needs some stuff done and i can’t run anything in the coopThat's too small, once you add feeder and water there's very little floor space left. What's the heat source? They need to be able to get away from heat if you're using something like a heat lamp.
Do you currently have adult birds? Is the coop ready? Could you run power out to the coop and brood in there?
Alternative ideas: a bathtub, a dog crate. A low cost/free option: large cardboard boxes (or several taped together if needed to make a larger box), covered in whatever wire mesh you have available for a lid (and you can use more cardboard to make a frame for the lid).
Is the dog crate not available now? How big is this heat mat? The chicks must be able to get to heat and away from heat as well?i have 2 heat mats, i have 2 roosters and a hen ( the hen is separated from roosters), the coop needs some stuff done and i can’t run anything in the coop
also i will probably use the bird cage for a few days or hours then move them into a dog crate or add 2 chicks in each
