Can't seem to find any definitive answer on how big a bjg egg is. I have 6 gold comets one went broody stopped laying the other 5 kept laying. I don't think my bjg hen is quite old enough to lay but I'm finding 6 eggs again and I dunno if its her or the comet laying again. My comets eggs are a brown color and this egg is more of a tan but its the same size as the comets eggs are maybe even a tad smaller. Do they start out laying small eggs and later produce larger eggs?

Mine laid regular sized eggs. JGs aren't really bred for super sized eggs. I have an 9 lb hen that lays an egg the size of a golf ball.

Got this one just now seems so weird coming from that big bird. And my little comets lay the darker ones and sometimes xl huge eggs.

Our BJG females lay a darker brown egg than yours. Usually with some darker spots. Last female laid only 2-3 a week, regular sized eggs just like all our other heritage breeds, and this was consistent both years she laid eggs. This current BJG female (in her seconds laying year and molted last fall) is laying more frequently and larger eggs. Both are from same breeder, but different years.

This is my first bjg chickens she just started laying i was hoping for xl eggs but if she's gonna lay like my comets I think I may sell her and the bjg rooster.

I don’t think they are known for egg size! However, most chickens lay a bigger egg in their second season (as compared to the first season). Also a new layer takes 2-3 weeks to begin giving typical sized eggs for them. They begin laying smaller eggs, as you already saw. But, overall, if you want larger eggs the BJG may not be the bird for you.
