Black spots on comb?

Hi Everyone!

Looking for some input about some black spots on one of my hen's combs. She's a hyline, about 2 years old. No change in her behaviour recently, still laying an egg a day.

I'm a touch concerned it could be mites - I did have a mite problem a few months ago, treated the coop and all the hens. I can't find any evidence that they're back currently - I can't see them in the coop or on any of the hen's vents. But the pale comb (anemia?) and black spots has me a bit concerned.

She can be quite scrappy and peck other hens on occasion. Could it just be scabs from another hen having a go at her? The rest of the hens have one or two black spots on their combs, but nothing to the extent that she does. Her comb is paler in colour than it normally is, but I'm not sure if that's just because she moulted a few weeks ago (I'm in the southern hemisphere, so its winter here).

I don't have any roosters.

I've attached some pictures of her this morning. I don't know if I'm overreacting and its just her sassiness and her getting her pecked, or if I should be looking out for something else.

Thanks!

To me it looks like scabs from pecking. It would make sense, especially if your other hens have some, too! My hens get scabs like that sometimes. But it’s good to be vigilant for the mites still since you’ve been down that road recently :)

Also welcome to BYC! :welcome
