We are losing 3 to 4 month old chickens every day. They seem fine one day and then they're dead. Every one of them have their bums eat out. Sorry if that's not appropriate but it's what's happening. Never had it happen before. Anyone know?

Sorry for your loss. Vent pecking and cannibalism in chickens can have a number of causes. Feeding a balanced chicken feed with 16-20% protein is best, and no or limited treats. Overcrowding, too much light, boredom from not getting outside to free range, too many roosters, and aggressive breeds are possible causes.

They're be cannibalized by the others or you have rats. How big is your coop and run for how many chickens? What is there diet?
We've been mixing protein with just a little chops. We put decon in the rafters on top. The pen and coop together is about 12x20. Only have 10 left. We had 16.

We put pellets in but they eat the corn and hardly eat the pellets. No evidence of rat poo.
Ok, Remove all corn, scratch and anything except their pellets, they've gotten spoiled and just pick out the tasty stuff instead of eating the healthy stuff. Like children wanting the cookies and icecream over broccoli and chicken. They are suffering from serious nutritional deficiency, especially in protein. That's why they're eating each other. They might not eat it at first, since they're used to two options but any healthy chicken will eventually eat if there's food. Don't give them anything other than their feed for a few weeks, and then limit any treats to only once or twice a week.
Actually, you might want to try a higher protein feed like chick starter or flock raiser for a while. Good luck. Remove the decon, the chance are too high for the chickens eating it.

Thanks will try that. We didn't raise these and that's what they were eating. We had just discussed giving them starter. The decon is well out of their reach. They can't get to it. Thanks so much for your knowledge. I have some experience but not a lot. Started with chickens in 2014.
