I have a flock of 20 Buff Orpingtons and Silver laced wyandottes. They have been laying eggs for about 3 weeks now. Today I gathered 3 eggs that had blood on them. I inspected several of the chickens, and some of them had a little blood on thier vents. Is this normal for when they start laying, or do I have a problem on my hands? Thanks for your help with this.

Hey Ed,
If it's not a copious amount of blood and no one is openly bleeding, I wouldn't worry too much. Sometimes the pullets bleed a little bit as their vent stretches with first time egg laying.
Just keep an eye on it.
